Booking & Policies
How can I book a session?
Book easily online via our Booking Page, call 757-759-8454, or use the form on our Contact Page.
Can I see your portfolio before booking?
Absolutely! Use the main menu to navigate to specific galleries (Maternity, Boudoir, Wedding, etc.) to see our style and quality.
Does the deposit go toward the session price?
Yes, the $100 deposit secures your date and is applied to your final balance, which is due on the day of the shoot.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept card, cash, Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay, and other digital payment methods.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Pay a $100 retainer to reserve your date, then make payments in installments at your own pace. The balance must be paid in full before or on your session day.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made within 3 days of your session forfeit the $100 retainer. If you paid in full and cancel, you receive a refund minus the $100 cancellation fee. Rescheduling is available up to 60 days if done at least 3 days before your session.
What if I need to reschedule?
Please contact us ASAP. You may reschedule one time if done at least 3 days before your session. Your new session must occur within 60 days.
What happens if I am late?
We respect your time and the time of clients coming after you. Sessions end promptly at the scheduled time. If you are late, that time will be deducted from your session duration.
What is your no-show policy?
If you do not arrive and do not contact us, all payments made are forfeited and a new retainer is required to book again.
The Session
What types of photo shoots do you offer?
We specialize in maternity, boudoir, weddings (photo & video), headshots, creative composites, on-location portraits, family sessions, product photography, and various events.
Do you also shoot videos?
Yes! Motiontography offers videography including cinematic wedding films, maternity videos, music videos, commercials, YouTube content, event coverage, and more.
Do you provide on-site makeup artists or hair?
Hair and makeup are not provided. You're welcome to bring your own stylist. If you want recommendations, contact Roger directly and he'll point you to trusted options.
How many outfits can I bring?
The number depends on your selected package. Please refer to the package details on our Booking Page. Contact us if you have specific requests.
Are props available at your studio?
Yes, we have various props and furniture available. You can also bring your own props to personalize your session.
How long are sessions & can I extend time?
Durations (1-3+ hrs) vary by package. Extra time ($50/hr) is only possible if the schedule permits and isn't guaranteed. Please book adequate time initially.
Do you shoot on location?
Yes, primarily within Hampton Roads (Norfolk, VA Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News). Travel fees may apply outside this area.
Can I bring a friend/support person?
You're welcome to bring support — the studio is small, so the sweet spot is about 1-3 guests max. If you're planning to bring more than that, let us know ahead of time so we can keep the session smooth.
Does Motiontography work with LGBTQ+ clients?
Absolutely! Motiontography proudly welcomes and celebrates clients of all identities, orientations, and expressions. We are committed to creating a safe, affirming space for everyone.
Can I bring my pet to the session?
Generally we don't recommend bringing pets unless the pet is actively part of the photos. If your pet is part of the shoot, tell us what kind of pet and the concept, and we'll plan it properly.
Is parking available at your studio?
Parking is fine — just try not to arrive with a caravan of cars. Two cars is ideal, three max.
Editing & Delivery
How do I select images for editing?
Typically within 24 hours, you receive a link to a private proofing gallery. Browse the gallery, note the filenames of your favorites, and email the list to us. We then begin the detailed editing process.
What's the turnaround time for photos/videos?
Turnaround depends on the package you choose, and it starts after you submit your image selections (your chosen file names) in one message. The package page shows the estimated timeframe, and we always aim to deliver as fast as possible — especially around holidays, turnaround may vary.
What are RAW / Unedited images?
These are the unprocessed digital files directly from the camera. Some packages include watermarked proofs in the preview gallery. Packages $600 and up do not include watermarks. If you want watermark removal on a package that includes watermarks, there's a $50 licensing fee.
Do you retouch skin and blemishes?
Yes. Our standard editing includes color correction, lighting adjustments, and light skin smoothing. Advanced retouching is available for an additional fee.
Can I request more edits later?
Yes — you can purchase additional edits later for up to 12 months: Standard ($20/image), Advanced ($30/image), Composites ($60/image).
What are the image usage rights?
Motiontography retains copyright. Clients receive a personal usage license for printing and sharing purchased digital images non-commercially. Commercial use requires a separate agreement.
Can I post my images on social media?
Yes, please do! We appreciate tagging Motiontography when you share.
Will you post my boudoir photos online?
We never post revealing images without your permission. For boudoir specifically, we'll ask first — every time.
Do I get printing rights to my images?
Yes! All images included in your package come with full personal printing rights. Print wherever you choose - online print services, local labs, canvas prints, albums, holiday cards, birth announcements, and more. For your convenience, professional print products are also available to order directly through a trusted third-party vendor (no obligation).
Do you offer simpler maternity packages without the high-end editing?
If you'd like maternity photos but don't need the advanced editing and creative composites included in the Maternity Signature package, we offer other photography packages that may better suit your needs. These options still provide beautiful maternity portraits with professional-quality results at a lower price point. Contact us to discuss which package might be the best fit for your vision and budget.
What should I wear for my maternity session? Do you provide outfits?
We encourage you to bring your own outfits - whatever makes you feel beautiful and confident! But if you don't have access to something special, no problem - we provide tulle maternity robes with dramatic ruffle trains as an option. We customize the color in post-production to any shade you want (emerald, burgundy, blush, gold - you name it!). Many clients bring their own clothes AND use our robes for variety.
When is the best time for maternity photos?
Most maternity sessions photograph best in the late 2nd to early 3rd trimester — often around 28-34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully defined but you're usually still comfortable moving around. If you're expecting twins or have a high-risk pregnancy, we can plan a bit earlier. If you tell us your due date and the style you want (studio vs outdoor), we'll suggest the best window.
